...and I'm making it count. Tomorrow I go back to waking up at 7:00 AM five days a week to run the corporate rat race.

Remember to set the alarm clock to ring an hour before planned, because that snooze button's gonna be your new abusive boy/girlfriend.

Oh man, that's gotta suck. I need a break, been working for 7 years straight without a single paid day off. Enjoy it for me!

I'm not going to be the one to criticize you decision to turn yourself into a cat in celebration. You do you, brah. Whatever makes you happy.
You should know though that a beer of that size will probably kill you now. But if you don't care, then as I said before, you do you, brah.

And somewhere deep in the recesses of the closet, lurk the shoes...
" Soon ", they whisper.

ya know. I've been in your lack of shoes before, and it's always nice to finally get that job offer and the money flowing again, but it also really sucks. You get used to having all the free time in the world and then suddenly you have to go back to shaking babies and kissing hands and trying to not get caught with the bosses secretary who also is his daughter...

Did you at least do something with your "free" time? When I was last unemployed I got into a funk after some time and pretty much slept all day and watched TV all night. Could have read some books, got back in shape or something...

Congratulations, I'm sorry! I'm still waiting on the offers. 5 are looking very good, but anything can happen. The free time is nice; I'm slowly working through the 2 year backlog of house projects. Can't lie, though, I'm a bit jealous you're heading back out there. Give 'em hell! And take their money. :)

I went on a few hikes, brushed up on my interviewing skills, went to Universal Studios, did some writing on my novel, got serious about photography, and re-launched my Flickr page. I tried to do more than just nap, fap, and crap, though some days were certainly more productive than others.

Oh man, "nap, fap, and crap" had me chuckle. What a perfect description! I might have to borrow that from time to time.
You are writing a novel. What genre if I may ask?

Layoffs, man. I finished up with VW in August. But I'm starting a new chapter in government consulting.

Oh sorry, that sucks.
Nice, lots of that around the area. If you end up in NW DC, let me know.
Good luck! Wear shoes.

Historical fiction. Edwardian historical fiction, to be precise. It depicts a high-society shipping magnate's fall from grace in 1912-1914 Philadelphia. He also drives a kick-ass Pierce-Arrow Model 66 touring car.
